“I wanted to design atypical rings for people who want to go out of the way with their jewellery and who don’t take wedding traditions so seriously. In my new collection I projected the moods and motifs of cyberpunk films and books, I am a big fan of them myself. That’s why I also named the rings after cyber characters from cult movies – Blade Runner, Neo, Trinity or Tron,” says its author Michal Kadaník about the Cyberpunk collection.

The rings are created by direct 3D printing called. sintering or sintering of steel or titanium dust using a laser beam. The machine look is given by the printing itself, the jewellery only needs to be surface treated afterwards. All rings are created by the jeweller after personal consultation with the client – their motifs can be combined, some designs can also be polished or coloured. The price of a pair made of steel starts at CZK 15,000, the titanium version costs CZK 20,000.

“3D printing is an extremely interesting technology that allows the joining and blending of different metals. Therefore, I am thinking about combining it with traditional methods and decorating my jewellery with gold and precious stones in the future.” Kadaník adds.

Michal Kadaník will present the Cyberpunk collection, along with his other collections of engagement and wedding rings, at the international design show Prague Design Week 2017 (10-16 April 2017) at the Dancing House in Prague.

Michal Kadaník made his first piece of jewellery, a pendant for his mother, when he was 16 years old, followed shortly after by his first ring. Under the guidance of goldsmith Leoš Lambeitl, he learned an honest craft and since 2005 has been creating under his own brand Kadaník Rings.
